Calling Youth of ALL abilities, grades 3 and up: Come join us for fun, friendship and character-building activities. Learn to be a leader among your peers, and have fun doing it! Rub shoulders with others who meet the challenges of life every day. We meet monthly with activities planned and organized by you and your peers. Awesome activities may include:
  • Campfire and Scavenger Hunt
  • Snow Sports
  • Game Night
  • Movies & Live Theater
  • State Fair
  • Parties/Dances
  • Field Trips
  • Sporting Events: Bowling/River Cats
  • Art Projects
  • Local Fun Venues such as Sky Zone and Laser Force

Serve With Us

Serving the Community, we take part in the ATOU in-school disability-awareness program, and put on annual outreach activities to raisepublic awareness of the value and abilities ofpeople with disabilities. Annual Community Events allow us to bring our message of acceptance, empathy and respect for people with disabilities:
  • Holiday Events
  • Carnivals/Parades
  • Visits to Care Facilities
We also lend a hand at many public events sponsored or supported by A Touch of Understanding:
  • Autism Walks
  • Holiday Parties
  • Volunteer Appreciation Picnic
  • Veteran's Appreciation

Volunteer With Us

Volunteer Opportunities Abound for adults as well as youth. People with and without disabilities are welcome to participate as speakers and activity leaders in our in-school disability-awareness program. Volunteers may also choose to work with the Youth F.O.R.C.E. as mentors, leaders and role models. A Youth/Adult Partnership, the Youth F.O.R.C.E. provides opportunities for adults to work in groups as well as 1- on -1 with youth. As a volunteer, you can:
  • Participate in Youth  F.O.R.C.E. meetings
  • Mentor youth
  • Model leadership skills
  • Model Respect and appropriate behavior
  • Expose youth to a variety of tools and equipment sometimes used by those with disabilities
